Description

Most silica products on the market are potassium silicate, which is a difficult chemical bond to break, requiring the addition of various chemicals to make it soluble. Our Biosilicate is monosilicic acid! Monosilicic acid is an amino acid complex that is very plant available.  This means that much less product is needed to get the same benefit compared to potassium silicate. Silica increases cell wall mass, resulting in plant tissue that is more resistant to pathogens and environmental stress (drought, heat, etc…). Using silica can also result in a higher density product with bigger yields.

Silica is a naturally occurring mineral that has been shown to have numerous benefits for plant growth and development. Research has demonstrated that silica can increase plant resistance to biotic and abiotic stresses, resulting in healthier, more resilient plants.

Studies have shown that silica can increase plant resistance to fungal and bacterial pathogens, such as Fusarium oxysporum and Pseudomonas syringae. In a study conducted by Rodrigues et al. (2018), it was found that the application of silica to tomato plants increased plant resistance to Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. lycopersici.

Silica has also been shown to improve plant tolerance to abiotic stresses, such as drought and heat. In a study conducted by Chen et al. (2018), it was found that silica application increased plant growth and yield under water-deficient conditions in rice plants.

When it comes to silica products, monosilicic acid has been found to be the most plant available form of silica. In a study conducted by Liang et al. (2015) comparing the effects of monosilicic acid and potassium silicate on rice growth, it was found that monosilicic acid was more effective at increasing plant growth and yield, as well as improving plant resistance to diseases.

Additionally, the use of monosilicic acid has been shown to result in higher quality and more abundant crops. In a study conducted by Savvas et al. (2013) on tomato plants, it was found that monosilicic acid application resulted in higher fruit weight and yield, as well as higher soluble solid content and vitamin C content.
