Biochar comes from an ancient practice that converts agricultural waste into a soil enhancer that can hold carbon, boost food security, and increase soil biodiversity. The process creates a fine-grained, highly porous charcoal that helps soils retain nutrients and water.
- Biochar increases the CEC (Cation Exchange Capacity) of the soil- in other words, it allows soil to hold more nutrients.
- Biochar is a permanent investment in the soil as it never decomposes. Regular charcoal still retains a lot of cellulose material which will quickly decompose, but biochar is pure carbon, and once added to your garden, it sticks around for thousands of years!
- Allows tiny “housing” for soil biology to remain safe and alive during times of drought or climate extremes.
We offer biochar in small amounts, in a you-bag-yourself barrel, or we can get you barrels, and tote sized super sacks! Give us a call to inquire about our pricing and availability.
