BioChar

BIOCHAR

Biochar comes from an ancient practice that converts agricultural waste into a soil enhancer that can hold carbon, boost food security, and increase soil biodiversity. The process creates a fine-grained, highly porous charcoal that helps soils retain nutrients and water.

  • Biochar increases the CEC (Cation Exchange Capacity) of the soil-  in other words, it allows soil to hold more nutrients.
  • Biochar is a permanent investment in the soil as it never decomposes.  Regular charcoal still retains a lot of cellulose material which will quickly decompose, but biochar is pure carbon, and once added to your garden, it sticks around for thousands of years!
  • Allows tiny “housing” for soil biology to remain safe and alive during times of drought or climate extremes.
